Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.

Platelets

Demand for platelets is moderate and met within 24 hours due to strong nationwide availability.

Red Blood Cells

The seasonal shortage of Rh-negative and O-positive blood continues, with most of the country's blood centers reporting critically low inventories. A-positive and B-positive blood remains available in moderate quantities.

Use of single and pooled cryoprecipitate remains steady, and strong quantities of pooled units are keeping pace with demand. Single cryoprecipitate, however, is becoming harder to source as production declines. A strong national supply of fresh frozen plasma readily meets pockets of demand for type A, type B, and type AB FFP.
