AABB Releases 8th Edition of Molecular Testing Standards

The eighth edition of AABB’s Standards for Molecular Testing for Red Cell, Platelet, and Neutrophil Antigens (MT Standards) is now available in the AABB Store.

The eighth edition includes new requirements for monitoring critical technology infrastructure and for additional validation studies at facilities performing fetal cell-free DNA testing. The updated standards also expand Reference Standard 2.2A to include three new blood groups added to the GenBank database and add requirements related to communication about events affecting a laboratory’s accreditation status and the publication of novel alleles.

The updated standards take effect Jan. 1 and are available in print and digital formats or as a bundle of both versions. AABB also offers a print bundle that includes the standards and the Guidance for Standards for Molecular Testing for Red Cell, Platelet, and Neutrophil Antigens.
