AABB has introduced the Prehospital Transfusion Certificate Program designed to prepare emergency medical services (EMS) leaders to plan, implement and manage safe and effective prehospital blood transfusion programs.
The self-paced program comprises seven modules covering the clinical rationale for early transfusion, blood product selection and handling, implementation models, operational logistics, field administration, quality and safety, and collaboration among EMS agencies, blood providers and hospitals. The program takes approximately seven hours and 15 minutes to complete and offers 5.75 continuing education credits.
Introductory registration rates are available through Jan. 31. Additional information is available on AABB’s Prehospital Transfusion Certificate Program web page.
