The call for abstracts for the 2026 AABB Annual Meeting is now open. Abstract submissions are due on or before Wednesday, May 20. Please note that you can access your abstract submission to add, update or edit the content through the submission period - even after you've submitted.
Abstracts may be considered for oral or poster presentations. Download the Abstract Preparation and Submission Guidelines for more information on preparing and submitting your abstract.
Help advance the field by sharing your research with blood and biotherapies professionals from throughout the world. AABB Annual Meeting attendees work in all areas of transfusion medicine and cellular therapies and look forward to the cutting-edge abstracts presented at the meeting.

* Notification of abstract status will be sent via email to the abstract submitter only. The submitter is responsible for sharing this information with all listed abstract authors.
Outstanding Abstract Award for Trainees
AABB will present up to ten Outstanding Abstract Awards for Trainees, chosen by peer review of scientific merit and abstract quality. Recipients will receive a $500 award and be recognized for their achievement at the Plenary Oral Abstract Session at the Annual Meeting.
Trainee awards will be presented in each of the following categories:
To be eligible, the applicant must be a trainee or have been a trainee within 12 months of the start date of the 2026 AABB Annual Meeting. The applicant must also be the first author who will present the abstract. Submissions will require documentation of eligibility.
Top Poster Awards
Top Posters will be recognized in a dedicated Top Poster area onsite and in the virtual poster hall. Presenting authors of the Top Posters will be asked to participate in a curated poster tour, which is an interactive event where abstract authors present for approximately five minutes followed by an expert-moderated discussion with the audience. Top Posters are also highlighted in the Transfusion journal online abstract supplement.
Best Biotherapies Abstract Award
The Best Biotherapies Abstract Award recognizes one abstract that represents the highest quality novel ideas. The recipient will receive complimentary airfare, hotel and complete registration to attend the AABB Annual Meeting. Recognition for this award will be announced during the Plenary Oral Abstract Session at the Annual Meeting and will be highlighted in the Transfusion journal abstract supplement.
No, you can submit as many abstracts as you would like.
The categories and keywords can be found on page three in the Abstract Submission Proposal Guide.
Please email professionaldevelopment@aabb.org if you have questions about the submission process or timeline.
Yes. If accepted, abstracts must be presented in-person at the Annual Meeting. The presenting author must register for the meeting, prepare their poster (or oral presentation if selected) and present during their assigned session time. If the presenting author cannot attend, an alternate author may take their place. Failure to present the abstract in-person, without adequate notification and justification, may prevent the authors from submitting abstracts to future meetings. All posters must be mounted throughout the duration of the designated time and may not be removed early for any reason.
If the abstract is selected as a plenary or oral abstract, the presenting author will receive complimentary meeting registration for the day of the educational session in which they participate. Poster abstract presenters, session table monitors, assessors and grant recipients do not receive complimentary registration under this policy.
If your abstract is accepted as a poster, we will provide printing instructions when you receive the final notification email at the end of July.
A visa invitation letter can be obtained by submitting this form. Please contact professionaldevelopment@aabb.org if you have questions or require additional information. Please apply as soon as possible.
