Awards

Top Poster Awards
Top Posters will be recognized on site in a dedicated Top Poster area onsite and in the virtual poster hall. Presenting Authors of the Top Posters will be asked to participate in a curated poster tour, which is an interactive event where abstract authors present for approximately five minutes followed by a discussion with the audience that is moderated by an expert moderator. Top Posters are also highlighted in the Transfusion journal abstract supplement.

Best Biotherapies Abstract Award
The Best Biotherapies Abstract Award recognizes one abstract that represents the highest quality novel ideas. The recipient will receive complimentary airfare, hotel, and complete registration to attend the AABB Annual Meeting that will take place in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023. Recognition for this award will be announced during the Plenary Abstract Session at the Annual Meeting and will be highlighted in the Transfusion journal abstract supplement.

Outstanding Abstract Award for Trainees
AABB will present up to ten Outstanding Abstract Awards for Trainees, chosen by peer review and determination of scientific merit and abstract quality. Recipients will receive a $500 award and be recognized for their achievement at the Plenary Abstract session at the Annual Meeting.

FAQs

Is there a limit on the number of submissions?

No, you can submit as many abstracts as you would like.

What kind of abstracts should I submit?

The categories and keywords can be found on page two in the Abstract Submission Proposal Guide.

If my abstract is accepted, do I need to be in person to present at the 2023 Annual Meeting?

Yes. If accepted, abstracts must be presented in-person at the annual meeting. The presenting author must register for the meeting, prepare their poster (or oral presentation if selected) and present during their assigned session time. If the presenting author cannot attend, an individual may take their place. Failure to present the abstract in-person, without adequate notification and justification, may prevent the authors from submitting abstracts to future meetings. All posters must be mounted throughout the duration of the designated time and may not be removed early for any reason.

Is there a registration discount code if my abstract is accepted?

If the abstract is selected as a plenary or oral abstract, the presenting author will receive complimentary meeting registration for the day of the educational session in which they participate. Poster abstract presenters, session table monitors, assessors, and grant recipients do not receive complimentary registration under this policy.

If my abstract is selected as a poster, is there a printing center close to the convention center or do I need to print my poster closer to home?

If your abstract is accepted as a poster, we will provide printing instructions when you receive the final notification email in mid-June.

Can I receive a refund for the abstract submission fee?

The abstract submission fee is required and is a nonrefundable processing fee, and not based on approval of your abstract submission or attendance at the AABB 2023 Annual Meeting. This fee helps support AABB’s ability to further contribute to the advancement of research in the field. Thank you for your support.
