“You are 42% more likely to achieve your goals
if you write them down” -Gail Matthews

Most people have goals. They think about them while driving, working or lying in bed at night. They tell themselves they want to lose weight, earn more money, learn a new skill or build something meaningful. But there is a clear difference between people who think about goals and people who actually achieve them. One of the simplest and most overlooked habits that separates the two is writing those goals down.

At first, this may seem almost too basic to matter. After all, if you already know your goals, why does it matter whether you write them on paper? The answer is that writing forces clarity, commitment and action in a way that thinking alone does not.

When you write down a goal, you turn a vague idea into something concrete. Thoughts are fluid and often inconsistent. One day you feel motivated and clear, and the next day you are distracted or uncertain. Writing removes that instability. It forces you to define exactly what you want. Instead of saying, “I want to get in shape,” you write, “I will lose 20 pounds and train three days a week for the next six months.” That level of clarity changes everything.
