AABB to Present at Federal EMS Summit on Prehospital Blood Transfusion

AABB will highlight its new Standards for Emergency Prehospital and Scheduled Out-of-Hospital Transfusions during the upcoming Prehospital Blood Transfusion Summit, hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Interagency Committee on EMS (FICEMS).

The summit will bring together medical directors, EMS leaders, researchers, policymakers and federal agency representatives to discuss the evolving role of blood transfusions in the prehospital setting. AABB’s presentation will emphasize how the new standards and accreditation program can support the safe and effective use of blood in non-hospital environments.

The summit will also examine current research in both adult and pediatric prehospital transfusions, explore innovations in blood logistics and foster collaboration among EMS systems, academic institutions and blood suppliers.
