President Trump Signs Funding Bill, Ending Government Shutdown

November 13, 2025

President Donald Trump signed a funding package late Wednesday to reopen the federal government, ending the longest shutdown in U.S. history. The legislation, which cleared the U.S. House of Representatives hours earlier, provides continuing funding for most federal agencies through Jan. 30 and includes three full-year appropriations bills that fund select parts of the government, including the Food and Drug Administration, through Sept. 30.

The law also requires agencies to restore employees affected by the shutdown with back pay and prohibits federal agencies from initiating any reduction-in-force actions through Jan. 30.
