A second feature explores the role of palliative transfusions for patients with advanced blood cancers. In the article, hematologists and palliative medicine specialists discuss research showing that many patients value access to transfusions more than any other supportive service.
This issue also includes a profile of Armand Cayer, MBA, MICP, MPO, the 2025 recipient of the Prehospital Administrator of the Year Award, who led the initiative to bring the first prehospital transfusion program to New Jersey, as well as an interview with Randall Schaefer, DNP, RN, CEN, president of the Prehospital Blood Transfusion Coalition, on advancing trauma care in the field.
