Trump Withdraws Nomination of Casey Means for Surgeon General, Announces Nicole B. Saphier as New Nominee

President Donald Trump withdrew his nomination of Casey Means, MD, to serve as the country’s next surgeon general. Means was announced as the nominee last year but had not yet secured Congressional approval for the position.

Trump announced today that he was now nominating Nicole B. Saphier, MD, to be the next surgeon general. Saphier currently serves as the director of breast imaging at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s facility in Monmouth, N.J. She is also a medical contributor for Fox News.
