Applications for 2026 Cord Blood Research Grant Due Sept. 13

August 12, 2026

The AABB Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Cord Blood Research Grant and will be accepted through Sept. 13. Researchers worldwide are encouraged to apply now.

Previously awarded by the Cord Blood Association Foundation, the Cord Blood Research Grant supports original investigator-initiated research advancing the biology, manufacturing, and banking of cord blood and cord tissue derived products and therapeutics.

Thanks to financial contributions from individuals and industry partners, the AABB Foundation will award up to two $50,000 grants to investigators to support research costs associated with their proposed projects. Grant recipients will be recognized during the Cord Blood Connect scientific program at the 2026 AABB Annual Meeting, taking place Oct. 17-19 in Atlanta.

The Cord Blood Research Grant complements the AABB Foundation’s Early-Career Scientific Research Grants Program and Process Development Grant Program, providing an additional funding opportunity for investigators advancing research in transfusion medicine and biotherapies. To date, the AABB Foundation has awarded more than $13 million in grants supporting the research of more than 200 scientists.
