Blood Products Availability

July 01, 2026

Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.

Platelets

Demand for platelets is moderate and met within 24 hours due to strong nationwide availability.

Red Blood Cells

National inventories of Rh-negative blood types and type O-positive continue to decline, with reports of critically low supplies of less than two days increasing. Supplies of type A-positive and B-positive remain at moderate levels.

Frozen Products

Use of both single and pooled cryoprecipitate remains steady. Supplies of pooled cryoprecipitate continue to meet demand, but single cryoprecipitate is becoming more difficult to source due to declining production and recent transportation delays. National supplies of fresh-frozen plasma (FFP) remain sufficient to meet demand, including for type A, type B and type AB FFP.

AABB's team of industry-trained professionals can help when inventory levels are seasonally low. AABB's National Blood Exchange is a partner benefit for all AABB institutional members.
