Take Action: Urge Congress to Strengthen the Resilience of the Blood Supply

May 03, 2023

AABB invites members of the blood and biotherapies community to advocate for Congress to include considerations related to the blood supply in preparedness and disaster response policies.

AABB continuously advocates for policymakers to recognize that the nation’s blood supply is a critical part of the health care and public health infrastructure. Congress is currently working on a bill to reauthorize the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA), which will establish, extend, or modify several preparedness and response programs conducted by the federal government. AABB recently submitted communications to both the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate highlighting opportunities for policymakers to include considerations related to the availability of a safe, adequate blood supply in the bill.

AABB encourages members of the blood community to participate in AABB’s Action Alert today. It will take less than five minutes to submit a letter to elected officials requesting that they include policies that will strengthen the resilience of the blood supply in the bill that will reauthorize PAHPA.
