AABB will host a complimentary Hot Topic Discussion from 2-3 p.m. ET on July 27 to focus on implementing the AABB Donor History Questionnaire version 4.0 (DHQ v4.0). DHQ v4.0 reflects the Food and Drug Administration’s historic May 11 HIV guidance, which recommends using individual risk-based questions determine blood donor eligibility. The new DHQ also removes the remaining Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease questions and shortens the hepatitis risk deferral from 12 to 3 months.
In this one-hour program, Mary Townsend, MD, vice president and corporate medical director at Vitalant and chair of the AABB Donor History Task Force (DHTF), will walk attendees through the significant changes in the DHQ v4.0, the new HIV guidance document and share how the DHTF incorporated the new recommendations into DHQ v4.0. Townsend will also describe tools and resources available to help blood collectors implement the DHQ and discuss challenges and success stories from the community.
Registration is complimentary but required to attend.
