CMS Accepting Nominations for Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee

March 02, 2022

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is seeking nominations for individuals interested in serving on the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC). The MEDCAC reviews and evaluates medical literature, reviews technology assessments and public testimony, and examines data and information on the benefits, harms, and appropriateness of medical items and services that are covered under Medicare or that may be eligible for coverage under Medicare.

According to the Federal Register notice (FRN), 23 memberships will expire in June 2022; three of these are patient advocates and the remaining 20 membership openings are for at-large MEDCAC members. CMS asks interested individuals to specify whether they are applying for a patient advocate position or for an at-large standing position. Additional instructions are available in the FRN. Nominations are due by March 28.
